Thanks for the latest update. It reminds me of my old days of racing.

I think pretty much every time I ended up breaking something by the last run. I say if your car isn't broken by the end of the day then your not trying hard enough.

It will be good to see the improvements you get out of the new motor. It must be pretty well balanced and have a good set of valve springs to pull 10K RPM. My race car engine could pull just over 9K before it would get valve bounce.

Keep up the good work and can't wait to see you race in person at the old school nats.

according to the guy joker got the motor from, it has spent its life as a rally/race motor and was built up to pull 12500rpm.its been rebuilt a few times and before it went bottom up recently he would sit it on 10k.

Who did you get to do the cam grind? What are the cam specs?

I got Kelford cams to do my cam grind. They charged $202 inc

I have a KE26 on the shelf for $80 offa TM

the motor I just picked up also has a Kelforld ground cam in it - specs are on a sheet of paper at hm currently

the prices I just posted are all Crank grind related - top end is fiiiiine

It is a Kelford Cams F29 grind. From what I have read it is low end race spec. I don't know if your head would be big enough for it and it is more suited for dual webers/dellortos but could be worth a shot for $100. I use a custom made F63-7 Kelford cam in my road car.

These are some F29 specs I pulled off the net, they are from a toyota cam but I am pretty sure the F29 profile is the same over all car makes.

haha, I misread it as cam grind, I forgot you brought that cam off trademe. That should be pretty good for your new engine.

I didn't need a crank grind on mine but I did get it polished which cost $90, shiny engine internals FTW!!

What carbs are you going to run on it?

see eoi thread - twin strombergs balanced/knife edged and matched to the head apparently

will stick with them

stil have Twin Solexes in the shed with manifold, have had the car running on then but was unhappy/need tune - will sort them out next season maybe

Sweet, port matched to the head is a big thing. I got my dellorto manifold enlarged and matched to my head. makes it flow heaps better. hopefully he has enlarged the ports and the manifold while he was at it.

It will be interesting to see what sort of power you get out of it.
