hi all nice to see a new dedicated forum for avengers, been into avengers since i was 12 thats 25years now god never done the math before have had a good collection over the years but moved recently to new zealand from ireland so i am now avengerless but will pick up one as soon as i get settled in and we find a place of our own.
anyway i still have my tiger a genuine 1971 mk1 sundance yellow tiger i picked up from okanes cars in castledawson in northern ireland took me a while to persuade joe pat to sell but since then its had a lot of work done and is nearing completion,a few pics to get started.
this is what it was like when i picked it up

the restall bucket seats that are standard in mk1 tigers very very rare and are now commanding around 1000 pounds a set

the tiger spioler and decals

after stripping down the mechanicals it was shipped off to the body shop to be repaired and resprayed in chrysler 152 sundance yellow

#1
wearing new paint and decals

so then it was broughtto the new workshop and up onto the 2 poster ramp we picked up work stalled a while and then got back into it after about a year
first was to clean down underside and repaint

it was surprisingly sound under all the old shultz so it was stripped and repainted with por 15

this is what they were like before

the engine was completly rebuilt with new bearings, pistons, rings, cam etc ans a lightned flywheel added from mal stuart motorsport, twin 40s have been refurbed also i am waiting on a better airbox and then it can all be fitted

the old magnesuim minilites are very pitted and will cost a few bucks to get refurbed so a cheap set of minilite copies and yokohama a539s will do for now until they can be redone

trial fitting of new grille possibly the last new old stock grille available bought in holland from maurice vissier who rebuilds and tunes avengers and sunbeams

rear bumper fitted and new rear lights fitted

slow old work this,i have relocated the battery to the boot and got a dry cell battery smaller size with high amp hours and long life, this will be mounted on a small alloy tray in the boot out of the way,and run the cables inside the car along the tunnel,im switching to electric fuel pump to with a regulator these will go were the battery was, exhaust manifold will be blasted and heat wrapped and fiited and then carbs, some wiring also to sort out.also the heater is still getting fixed the motor was burnt out due to leaking heater rad so the rad has been recored also

some small amounts of work done so far the grill and headlights have been trial fitted along with the spotlamps still some fettling to do to get them all spot on.

new headlamps swapped to h4s done away with the sealed beams.

these were the old ones fairley grotty

picked up some cosmic bonnet pins also so these will be fitted to

avengertiger

remote servo repainted and fitted awaiting new pipework

seat bases were ok so a quick rub down and coat of paint was all that was needed

new battery didnt think it was quite this small but im assured its up to the job just need to make up a tray to munt it on.and get the connectors for the terminals

until next time

avengertiger

running out of maoney rapidly to finish this off so has been slow for the last few months, anyway bumpers and lights and grille all on and only one tweak to left hand bumper should see it all done with

quite happy with how it all lined up,as there was a lot of trial fitting and refitting, some wiring has been replaced and the airbox fitted and interior is back in all thats left really is the front brakes and get it started.
small bit of brake piping left to do to finish off the brakes and then centre up the rack and get it tracked fit the rest of the new wheels and then its off to get the rest of the exhaust done in stainless.more money :(
we will keep at it.....

a few more

we managed to get the engine started after two years of sitting after the rebuild and it sounded good,we have a few charging gremlins to sort out and some wiring still to tidy up,also the webers need to be set up properly after a rebuild, the engine only seems to fire on 2 cylinders at a time timing needs to be sorted properly also.
i only got a few hours at it all in all but it was great to see it again and get back behind the wheel of the sunbeam i had forgotton what a buzzy car it is to drive, and how easy it is to let the tail loose!!!!
