haha. yup, it turns out 1 Avenger is not enough for me.

I just love the tough Mad Max look.

It is going to be a long project but it will be awesome.

Hi Richard v8 rover way to go,I was all set to convert my 2door to v8 in Ireland but never did get around to it,I had collected all the parts I wanted manual for road use and had a t5 Borg Warner 2wd cops worth box and the bell housing from a Tvr Griffith bolts straight on but the bell housing was 300 sterling new from Tvr expensive.
Have you sourced a v8 I believe the sd1 is the one to use early p6 are slightly less powerful.or are you going range rover?
Nice project.

avenga

I haven't sourced my V8 yet. My mechanic has 3 spare blocks so we are just going to use one of those as a dummy engine to mock everything up for now.

That is the plan :) It will be a total monster when it is done, It will have like zero traction.

Yeah man. You will have to have a blast in my car to get an idea for how little traction you will have! Took it for a very small drive this afternoon and I have remembered why I love the car :D

20th May it's getting the tune and surge tank :D Can't wait.

The 1UZ is hectic. Great choice on the throttle bodies. I'm guess you will go for a LINK G4? Or Megasquirt?

Awesome! it will be good to see your beast out on the road.

Yeah those throttle bodies are just amazing, photos don't do them justice. They come as a fully built up kit from OBX Racing in the states and they come with manifolds, 4AGE throttle bodies, trumpets and fuel rails. You open the box and it is just full of shiny trumpets.

I want to make an easy to remove air filter so at shows I can have it with just the open trumpets.

At this stage I am looking at going Link G4 Atom, I might upgrade to a Storm, depending on how we do the spark.

Aren't you doing this with Mal?

We used a Hilux Diff and got a pretty decent head from Steelie Gears. It was $1100 for the housing and diff head, and Mal shortened it etc pretty well.

As you may know, the problems you will have is that the diff will be unsprung weight, and at-least in my install, the diff is very slightly angled downwards towards the front, which does something but I can't quite remember what.

How much was the LSD?

avenga

Yeah I am doing this with Mal but I don't really want to pay $1,100.

I got the LSD for $235 inc shipping etc. quoted about the same for the housing.

I am sourcing most the parts myself so I can keep costs down.

My diff will be mounted a lot differently to yours so it should be sweet.

Nikolai

Hey!

How's this going? Any updates? :)

By the way - where did you source the LSD head? Seems like a great price.

avenga

V8 is sort of on the back burner for now, I have some health issues I have to take care of first.

I got the LSD from "Southern Surf Spares"

awsome project richard a v8 wagon sounds great.good luck with the project.
do you know your route when you travel down south are you going kaikoura way or west coast if your travelling west coast and pass through drop in to work and have a look around always something interesting there to see.

avenga

Thanks Dave.

I am catching the ferry over tomorrow and then cruising down the west coast, but I will be in a big convoy so I won't be able to drop in. We are staying in Westport. We are going to do the queen Charlotte, So I will be passing through Nelson, but we have a big day of driving ahead of us.

But the good news is that in October I am going to take the V8 Avenger wagon to Mopars in Nelson, so I will be there all weekend so I will have plenty of time to visit.

BTW, you can just post in my normal build thread.
