Here is a little video of my 1975 starting up. I was planning to do a longer video but my camera ran out of batteries.

This will give you guys a little taste of what it sounds like, it sounds better in real life but this will give you some idea. I will post some more videos later.

Thanks. Sounds much better in real life. I am just using the video mode on my digital still camera. Doesn't quite capture the sound fully.

It is stock but has a lumpy cam in it so it pulses nice. I'll try do that tomorrow. It's not the tidiest at the moment though but then i guess i can keep you updated with my full restoration. Your's sounds great on the road. looks fast too

It doesn't matter what it looks like now. I have found it is really good having a project thread because not only do you get incouragement for all the other members you also get to look back and see how far you have came.

Thanks. I love how mine sounds and goes out on the road. My mechanic does awesome work on my car. It is pretty quick now and it is a very fun car to drive.

I saw that when it was on the tele a while back but I was wondering something.

That show is set in 1973, and the Avenger Estate was released in March 1972 so at most that Avenger Estate would be a year old if not brand new when the show was set. But when you look at it it is pretty rough with the back rubber strip missing and damaged paint. So I wonder in 1973 would you 1. Use a brand new car for a car bomb? 2. would a car look that run down after only 1 year?

Yes, I thought that wagon should have looked much newer too...lol
Both the Mk3 Cortina and Avenger wagon had "K" rego plates, which ran from Aug 1971 to July 1972.
The show was widely bagged for inaccuracies, the main one being the MK3 Cortina which was supposed to be a 1971/72 TC 2000 GXL, but was in fact a later model TD 2000 E with GXL badges!

I was surprised to see Austin Allegro's in a 1973 TV show as we didn't see them here until 1975. They were released in May 1973 in the UK with the quartic (squarish) steering wheel (as seen in the show) but soon replaced in 1974 with a normal one. The "L" rego one used in the show was spewing blue smoke, so had obviously had a hard life in its few months in the force...haha

Did you ever watch the USA version of Life on mars? It was pretty good. He drives a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle instead of the Mk3 Cortina.

Have you seen http://www.imcdb.org? it is the Internet Movie Car Database. It tries to list all the movies or TV shows cars have been in.

It has some Avengers on the site but most are background cars but here is the pages for Hillman Avengers (29 movies) Plymouth Cricket (7 movies) and Chrysler Avenger (8 movies)
