From discussions in the thread below, which included the similarities to the Toyota 18r intake led to Richard reminding me about the Iranian production of OUR Motor into the late 2000's!

The other option could be to see if you could track down an Avenger engine from Iran. They still made them up until like 2005-2010 and by the end they had EFI. So I don't know if you could just buy the EFI setup and transplant it over to an older Avenger engine.

nice, I was watching Link website and seems the  G4+ ATOM II  is quite..."intersting" for use in 4 cyl engine... :P (the only problem is not being in NZ)

and WOW!! you blowed my brains with that info!!!!  I was looking photos on  internet and bang!

I'm already asking random iranian people how to get the  EFI.. :P

(and looking around also found the PEUGEOT ROA...a weird  frankenstein of peugeot 405 + paykan  so is rwd)

More info and pics stolen from here : http://www.paykanhunter.com/2011/03/peugeot-rd.html

I have been asked bunch of times about this, and tried to dodge the question every time! But I can no longer put this aside, the time has come to talk about yet another IranKhodo's engineering masterpieces, the Peugeot RD!

You are looking at a Rear-wheel Drive (RD) Peugeot 405! And as you can see, the power train is coming from no other than Paykan! The engine is the Rootes 1.6 Hillman Avenger (which were used on Paykans since late 70s) and was mated to the Hunter gearbox and rear axle.

They started selling them in late 90s with the original carburetor set up, and then with the fuel injection upgrade (which were used on late model Paykans also). OMG! I just looked up http://www.ikco.com/ and guess what?! The RD is still available!!! Now they are calling it Peugeot Roa (have no idea what that means). Now you might ask, was it mainly a Peugeot body, or was it the Paykan underbody underneath? Well, on my last trip to Iran few years ago, I spotted one on jacks and took the some snaps, take a look above maybe you can figure out what is going on with this mess! The car was a handling disaster, and would suffer constant engine-mount and cross member failure (as it is evident in the photos). Hope this clears some of the confusion regarding this monstrosity of a car! ;@

View from under the front : Recognise those suspension arms as Avenger![size=78%]

eww leaf springs : yep thats Hunter alright!

Would be kinda keen to get some into NZ or retro fit these & see the power gains / reliability issues etc!

QuotePeugeot RD; chassis and drivetrain are similar to the older Paykan but the outer body shell and appearance resemble a 405, production of this car had been halted.
Peugeot ROA; modified version of Peugeot RD, production of Peugeot ROA is going to halt

nice pics you found! i was roaming on several forums also, it seems that the RD was a monstruosity,  but im curious, i want to dissect one.

(and bring with me the EFI :P)

here in Arg, one of my other options prior to the avenger was a 405, and one of my "ideas" was RWD conversion :P but using Ford Sierra parts...aaanyway.... someday i'll do it...in fact i still have the idea of using sierra parts to make independent suspension avenger....but that's also a dream.
Hi from Argentina!! and apologies for my bad english!

JoKer

Thank you & credit to you as well for re-invigorating the discussion & discovery of the Roa & RD Peugeot's

a pleasure :P
Hi from Argentina!! and apologies for my bad english!

MAD-GRUYERE

maybe I should open a new topic... but I'll post it here first....

Watching some youtube vids I stumbled across the following
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj-Z33MO2Gk&t=349s

It's a Datsun 1600 with L18 engine (ohc) non crossflow...

I was wondering if will be "cheap and easy" (relatively) to use a bike EFI throttle boddy and some EFI module for the Avenger. In this case there is also other idea about the fully programmable ignition.

(or maybe I'm just high on something) :P

JoKer

Just noticed I had called it a POA

A post on Facebook mentioned these : freaked a few out & 'Oldschool' aka Ross mentioned this :

"Single point EFI and alloy head too..less powerful than an Alpine motor as lower compression to run on low octane petrol. Lots of Avenger parts in South America. I looked at bringing in a 5 speed (VW 1500) gearbox from Argentina but too expensive once export tax, shipping and GST are paid..cheaper to fit a Sierra 5 speed."

the 5 speed VW1500 was NEW info to me!

So now all we need for the most Awesome Avenger Garage is a 2 Door Quad Headlight LHD 2L Brazil block EFI 5 Speed : did I miss anything?

also next to it the 4x4 Eniak Durango with similar motor jacked up
