Avenga's 1980 1UZ-FE 'Swag'on Discussion thread
« on: July 19, 2018, 05:34:05 PM »
This is an EPIC build!

The latest addition to my fleet of Avengers.

This one is a 1980 Chrysler Avenger wagon.

I brought it off a fellow Avenger forum member. Big thanks to @Pashy for putting up with my months of emails saying "Is the wagon ready yet?" and a big thanks to @Joker for helping out with the speedo drive gear, unfortunately the speedo gear sheared off so I will need to suss out a GPS speedo for now until I can get the other one going.

I am going to tow it back home in a couple of days then there is a small list of things that I need to get working, RPM gauge is stuck on 3,000 but I think that is just a bent needle, and I want to have a look at the brakes.

Other than that I really love the wagon. It drives really nicely. It has been lowered and certed so it looks really nice. Once I have it all up on the road I will take some more photos.

I expect to see this stacked in trophies at the next 4&R's

Follow it here :

And keep the discussion in this thread : it keeps the build thread "clean" & easy to follow

Hmm was trying to think of something different and cool off course for rocker covers will have to go back and have a look see what they are like but what about anodising?
colour matching may be an issue though might be worth finding out
other than that body colour

Here are some thoughts from discussions on other forums

I do like the silver and black because it has a good contrast

Others suggested black but my problem with black is that in makes the engine look very bland, because the plastic trim is also black. I like the contrast of silver and black better.

There a car with a black 1UZ and ITB's in the next workshop over so I went and took a photo of it's engine. It just looks like too much black and nothing to break it up.

Here is a pic online that I found with crinkle paint which looks better because it has some silver accents

If we are talking 4&R's then I could go something crazy and custom like this :P but I'm not sure if I want add a third colour in to the engine bay.
