Title: Valve guides
Post by: zenithman on January 11, 2017, 12:31:24 PM
Does anybody know what I should do if my valve guides are worn beyond comprehension? As there probably are not made any to fit my valves, can i fit other valves wich they do make valve guides for? The model I have is a 1979 Avenger 1300. If I could get valves compatible with these copper valve guides they make nowadays that fits my Avenger, my world would look rosy red.

I had bronze valve guides and hardened seats fitted to my head,  think it cost me $650 to have 2 heads crack tested and have valve guides, new valves and seats done.

Thanks! So generally there is no issue with diameters being uncommon it being an old car and everything?

Nope, usually doesn't matter on the valves themselves as the guides are made to generic sizes and reamed to suit a standard or oversized valve stem

That is good news.
