Title: Gearbox problems
Post by: Redassassin on June 13, 2016, 03:47:22 PM
Went out to Repco today and trying to leave Repco was not fun. Trying to put my avenger into reverse it wouldn't stop grinding (crunching) while refusing to go into reverse, I REALLY didn't want to force it but had to as I needed to get my car home before I could take a look at it. It took a lot of force to push past the grinding and get it into reverse, after that changing gears was not smooth at all. First gear required a fair amount of force to go in (sometimes refusing to even do that until I pumped the clutch) as did the other gears but not as much, and pretty much all gears made a small crunch noise as I put them into gear, does anybody have any ideas on this one? I've never really had to deal with gearbox issues before so not too sure where to start on this one

That's a clutch problem, not gearbox!

What specifically should I he looking for? I've only had my car back from the mechanic for about a month or 2 and they checked the clutch, it had a good amount of thick Ness left and the pressure plate was apparently 80% efficient

Figured out the mechanic didn't put the lock nut on the clutch cable so the adjuster nut was slowly coming undone
