So a couple of days ago the ignition switch on my Avenger died and being that my Avenger is a daily driver and I needed to get to work the next morning I put an ignition from a Holden Sunbird we had lying around on, that did it for a couple of days but now the engine has no spark when cranking until you stop cranking where it gets a little "kick" of spark, that ignition is off now and won't be going back on but I need to bypass the ballast resistor to see if it is faulty (REALLY hoping its not the electronic ignition module), how would I go about doing this? I have a standard 12V coil here that I can use, Thanks in advance :)
Not to sure on bypassing the ballast resistor, but i stumbled across this on trademe yesterday if it's any help.http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/parts-other-makes/electrics/auction-1082012216.htm (http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/parts-other-makes/electrics/auction-1082012216.htm)
Awesome thanks man, if its not the ballast i'll be all over that auction haha
ooh
1997?
Thought that year was strange also, must be an aftermarket item.
Whelp nevermind guys, turns out the ballast and module are perfectly fine, the Holden ignition just died, I found another Avenger ignition at a wrecker though and have now got them both at the locksmith so he can swap the ignition barrels
cool wont feel stink for buying one of that set then :P
