Title: Rocker shaft - order of components.
Post by: blekkja on September 12, 2015, 09:03:07 PM
Think the engine shop put it together wrong. The gap between the tappets for cylinders 2 and 3 is almost double 1+2 and 3+4 and the bolt holes don't line up. None of my manuals go into detail.

BM1
mount
BM10

spring

BM9
mount
BM9

spring (longer gap)

BM5
mount
BM12

spring

BM8
mount
BM5

So on the second cylinder they are both listed as BM9s so should the two BM5s also be together on cylinder 3 or something. Possibly the different castings were for inlet and exhaust? I don't understand what the hell they were doing here. Somebody help. Otherwise I'm just going to have to experiment until something fits.

Hi; don't worry about casting no's they vary, the rocker are all the same, they either go left or right, only tappet clearance different

Oh wicked, thanks. Yeah they all look exactly the same, or mirrored at least, but the casting numbers didn't seem to make any sense to me.

Issue is now that my mechanic shattered one of the pedestals while trying to fix the machine shop's balls up. Sigh.
