Title: 73' Avenger GLS...The build goes on!
Post by: streetracer75 on March 18, 2015, 04:15:05 AM
Latest addition to the build...Kenlowe HP 12" electric fan with stator blades.
This is a blower fan as I didn't have enough clearance (engine side) because of the water pump shaft.

Since I am upgrading the cooling system with the Kenlowe electric fan kit, I thought I may as well fit a set of silicone radiator hoses at the same time

I got this Superpro steering coupling doughnut to compliment the 2.5 quickrack. The quickrack is great with little or no road vibration already, but hopefully this will stiffen it up a little and improve things even further.

Also shown in the picture are a set of extra long track rods ends, as I am thinking about fitting adjustable TCA's to achieve negative camber.

Can I find somewhere silicone hoses that fit to Avenger well?

I decided to take off the cross-member and do the works strengthening modification.
These picture shows the gusset and box-section plates welded in.

I also took the opportunity to take off and have all of the other front suspension components powder coated, while the suspension and front brakes are being rebuilt.

This picture also shows the longer (MK2) TCA. I am fitting these with an extra long threaded track-rod end to see if I can achieve more negative camber?

Next to go on are the GAZ coil over conversion.

And now for the really good stuff...

Front coil-overs, with new lotus discs and callipers. Pads are EBC Yellow Stuff.

All fitted to the car and she now looks and sits sweet. I will post pictures of the car in the next day or two.

Hi Gary, this is how I cut the hole in the boot to clear the larger washers and bush

Hey Steve just one last thing. Is the domed extrusion just held in place with seam sealer or is it spot welded?

Gary

Hi Gary, no it is part of the square plate you can see welded to the boot floor, you will need a hole saw to cut it off

Hey Steve please take a look at the picture and tell me if this is correct? The top bush and washer are sitting in hole and bolted to top plate, rather than sitting on boot floor?

Here are some pictures of my GLS with the suspension rebuilt and finally set-up. Think she sits just right and plently of camber on front wheels now too.
