Was just going to PM Richard this but maybe other people want to know. What's the crack with using the avenger badge thingy, is it trademarked or anything? Reason asking is because this lady is point blank refusing to make me a jacket patch because she is worried that they are going to start making avengers again and they are going to hunt her down and sue her. I assured her no one would ever bring then back because they barely meet any safety standards as it is. :)
Chrysler/dodge would still own the naming rights, as they still make the Dodge Avenger. But it is more the typeface that you are worried about.
When I was creating my badges for my Panther I found that it is not a font, as letters like the 'e' is different from the first and second 'e'. I don't think Chrysler would have trademarked the typeface back in the day and even if they did then it would most likely be expired or permitted under fair use.
I'm not a lawyer but Chrysler/dodge haven't chased me down for using the badge on the site so I think you will be safe with a jacket patch.
yea point out there's a pirate site devoted to them but nil action so far
also creative commons allow 'personal use' as per the fine print on this page
