Title: Brakes
Post by: Muzza on May 20, 2012, 09:42:33 PM
Just striped the front brakes and the pistons are seized inside the caliper. Any ideas how to get them out.

Have just had seized brake pistons replaced in 2 of my Avengers, prick of a job...I got Autostop to do it!!
They soaked them in CRC overnight then used pliers to get them out, doesn't matter if you damage the pistons as they'll be munted anyway, new ones about $20 each, Graeme (Avengerparts) has them.

Get your brakes working okay Muzza?
My avenger also had a sticking master cylinder piston, causing the brakes to drag...took it out and sanded it smooth, now fine again.

Here when we got issues like this, we take the whole caliper to the brake repair shop, and in most of the cases they shift the broken or exhauts pieces like rubber seals or pistons, and they make them look good, like new ones. Other just spray some lubricant like WD40 on the pistons to make them move.

Cheers
