Title: Avenger fibreglass body panels
Post by: avenga on September 13, 2011, 11:59:39 PM
Hi guys.

So this is my latest project I have been working on. I brought some mould a month or so ago and I have got them them repaired and improved.

Once I have finished this set I will be selling finished products if anyone is interested.

Here are some shots of them on my car. We are still strengthening them and this is only the first fit of them so they will be much better when they go on sale. They are unfinished and unpainted at the moment.

Let me know what you guys think and if anyone is keen on a set then let me know.

here are some pics.

Cool. Appreciating the front spoiler - the rear isn't really my style. If I was doing it myself I would want a proper Tiger style one.

I think i am in love

these could go on www.thisiswhyiambroke.com

also not sold on the wing currently - image of style/completed?

currently cant afford even a club membership/entry fees so I am in no hurry for a set etc..

edit : after thought : does the front come without the indicator rectangular-holes? cos I have long ago smashed mine and will be using generic trailer indicators for the front etc

Yeah I am really loving the front spoiler. I think that is really cool.

I am a bit the same about the rear spoiler, I know I don't want to go Tiger style on my Avenger and I like the general look of the rear spoiler but I think it is just a bit high on the boot. It is sort of the like the one on my race car. I think it looks better than my race car spoiler. I am hoping when it is painted it will look sweet.

It will be painted up like a torana spoiler. Like this one. Infact I think the spoiler may even be off a torana.

It will look a bit different, I will see if I can photoshop a preview.

Here is a dodgy photoshop of what it will look like. (Yes I know my photoshop skills suck but I couldn't be bothered spending ages on it)

Suppose painted it would be a different matter. I do get the idea. It could just work. Sure you didn't use MS Paint though? :P

On a related note: what do you think A9X style flares (filled with giant rubber) would look like?
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels
Post by: avenga on September 14, 2011, 09:16:24 PM
Yeah I am hoping that when it is all painted it will look better. The boot is a bit of a gamble style wise but I think it will work.

I couldn't be more pleased with the front end. I love the chin spoiler and the new flush bonnet pins look cool.

I was actually talking about flares while I was down looking at the fiberglass. I think with this kind of kit then flares could work, and that was exactly the style of flares I was thinking of.

P.s. No I didn't use ms paint :)

I like the lines to much to want to start thinking about flares - I'm running 165/185 and happy about it - but if I was going all out then I would go all out! Work your computer magic, sir!

I run 185's on my '75 and 205's on my race car. I always wanted to flare my race car out. I went for a more boxey spoiler on my race car to suit the boxey Chrysler Avenger.

Here are some shots of the spoilers on my race car. (sorry about the old crap photos)

As requested, dodgy photoshop with A9X flares.

I actually think they look bloody hot on it. What do you guys think?

Get some more width on those wheels and I think it deserves to be done.

Bonnet ought to have a decent bump in it too - think Mark 1 Tiger.

Hmm I shall look in to this. A fully kitted race car look would be pretty awesome.

Why flares?

Because race car

Here is a shot of the Avenger with real life flares and race tyres. What do you guys think?

I think the roof mounted diffuser is a bit of a piss take.

rear flares are yuck. way to big/deep. put ones like the fronts on the rear and it will look choice.
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels
Post by: hunted on September 15, 2011, 10:45:06 AM
also, they need to be blatantly riveted/screwed on, none of this bog and smoothed shit. wont suit the lines of the car if they are smoothed into the panels.

^^^ Seconded.

Also, you will have to be careful not to overdo it. Or else you might as well get yourself a Metro and a Burberry Cap.

I am assuming the running gear in that thing is hot enough to justify all the extras? You almost will need to start thinking v8 if you go much further ;)

Yeah I was a bit iffy about the rear flare myself. I do like it but I think it is a bit too big. I think the front one is too small for the rear. Needs to be more like the A9X rear flare in the photoshop image.

Yeah that is why I like the A9X style with the big hex nuts etc in the photoshop.

Yes the running gear is plenty hot enough. It has a hot 1500 with dual dellortos and a 5 speed sierra gearbox. It sounds like a race car.

Engine shot!!

Still got a functioning heater with original pipes, even? That's a rarity...
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels

Yeah the heater works but the fan doesn't. I am going to fix that when I put in the Alpine dashboard.

Okay so I went down to Bygone Autos again today to play around with some flare option. We repositioned the original flares we had on the rear and then we tried the front flares on the rear wheels.

Side on the front flares don't look right on the rear because they the wheel arch is too rounded so we are making a new one off a capri to see if it looks better.

This is the original flare repositioned.

Front flare moved to the rear.

Your main issue is going to be the rear doors. It's almost not going to work unless you consign yourself to never being able to open them again.
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels
Post by: avenga on September 15, 2011, 11:20:52 PM
The ones in the 2nd shot don't interfere with the doors. If you look closely they end well before the door.

This was another reason I like the 2nd design better. I will post a photo showing the gap between the flare and the door soon.

Here is a shot of the clearance between the door and the rear flare, this is using the smaller flare.

Hi how much for the bonnett and boot lid minus the rear spoiler and do they have all the braceing in them
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels
Post by: avenga on January 24, 2012, 05:34:09 PM
Hi, Yes they both have all the bracing in them.

With the boot the rear spoiler is integrated in to the mold so it can't be removed.

I will PM you prices.

They are a bit big in real life. We have some others that should fit but we are waiting till we get the wheel so we can make them to fit.

oh ok fair enough cause i mightbe getting som wheels off a friend and the have a little bit of dish and are flat i was going to turn then around to get heaps of dish and so i would need fenders to stick out above them :)
Title: Re: Avenger fibreglass body panels

What size wheels?

We have quite a few options for flares. The best way is to fit the wheel then cut the arches and make the flares to fit.

"Ssr 14 x 7 old jdm wheels the sort of wheels that are most sort after because they rare" what my friend said and they are basically flat so i wanted to turn them around to get maximum dish! haha

JDM stuff is hard to find in 4x108 stud pattern. 3 piece rims are cool but they can be pretty expensive.
