I have a 1.3 engine with a weber 40, lynx manifold, flows and a cam. Will that all be able to fit into what would be a factory Alpine 1600? (Providing I get a second carby) I believe it is a hillman 1300 engine, as the engine mounts and gearbox appear to be factory.
yeah
The engine mounts, gearbox and everything is all the same on the 1.3 Vs 1.6
You can tell if it's a 1.3 or a 1.6 because their is a LB on the passenger side of the engine block on the 1.6, the 1.3 has SB.
The manifolds, both inlet and exhaust will fit either a 1.3 or 1.6
The hotted up cam should also fit both engines
That lynx manifold is a weird one. I have seen them advertised, they crossover so they work with the firing order so each venturi connects to alternatively firing cylinders.
They are designed to sort of act like having dual webers, but only using a single weber. I have no idea how they compare to the dual Strumbergs of a 1.6 Alpine. I run dual Dellorto DHLA 40 on my 1500 and they run sweet.

oh wow that would look neat : wonder how they perform?
i have a spare one!!!!
skite :D and I managed to collect a 1.75 from Ron hah (needs rebuild)
I would say the single Lynx would probably work better then dual Strumberg CD150's but not as good as a true dual dellorta/weber setup.
a dellorto/weber 40mm venturi is roughly the same size as a 1.5 inch CD150. So with a proper dual dellorto/weber 40mm you would have a dedicated 40mm venturi per cylinder, so 4 venturii in total, then on the Lynx you go down to only 2 40mm venturii shared between 4 cylinders but then it is using the crossover to separate out the induction pulses, don't know how effective this is versus independent throttles. Then with the stock dual carb setup you have a little smaller venturii on the CD150, 38mm but then you also have the problem of the induction pulses being out of order.
So yeah, on paper I could see that the Lynx would work better than the stock dual carb setup, but I don't think it would work as well as a dual dellorto/weber setup. But then in is a cheaper and easier to tune setup
But you know me. I love independent throttle. I have them on both my Avengers.
