So my mate with a Mk1 Cortina's indicator stalk stopped working & he was eyeing up my spare cars for thier Headlight Stalks
Obviously I'm a bit hesitant to part with things that we are told is so rare & unobtainable
So he went & bought and installed one of these :

A Series 3 Landrover Stalk that has all of the Same functions & only need the plugs / wiring sorted and it works
The position isn't quite right & I don't thing the Indicator goes off after straightening the wheel but hey, it works
Now this is just a theory until someone Proves it but I reckon these could work in an Avenger
they are all over ebay (https://www.ebay.ie/sch/i.html?_sop=16&_nkw=land+rover+series+3+indicator+stalk&_frs=1) or in NZ on our Trademe (http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchResults.aspx?searchString=land+rover+indicator+stalk) & when I get part Number or a confirmation or a "No that wont work" will update the thread Title
Oh yea & a NOS Cortina Stalk on fleabay UK was eye-watering price in the Rootes group Discussion page the other day & someone else also piped up about these stalks too

you can buy Nearly 2 Avengers for that!
My indicators rarely switch off on their own because of the after market steering boss I'm using.
You just get used to switching them off with your little finger.
Looking at the photos, they look the same as a classic mini. Might have to try fit a mini one while both cars are in pieces to cure my curiosity.
British aye :P
That stalk will most likely work - they are all versions of the Lucas 119A basic design.
But the Avenger has a tight double bend in the stalk inside the column housing. This can be bent with the correct pipe bender but the tube is very thin and kinks easily.
Our car came with a switch from a Hunter which was close but the S bend wasn't tight enough and the electrical connector (3 x 3) was completely different.
