recommended engine recos

Hey there
I have a 1980 avenger wagon and I'm tossing up whether to get a rebuild or an engine replacement. I just spent some cash last summer getting a new webber carb & manifold and kinda want to keep the engine oldschool so was wondering if anyone knew anyone to reco my motor and maybe add a few go faster bits, also was keen on changing to a 5 speed box! Budget 5k  I live in Snells beach, Warkworth area (have two cars so could possibly cover a broader area)

Ha yea I've seen you in your car a few times at gull early in the mornings. You probably haven't seen my wagon, didn't drive it a hell of a lot last summer. Have you got a 5 speed in yours? Know where I could get one ?

I'm currently working on my conversion. Just finished making the bell housing. Thought I might of seen one last summer but only ever caught a slight glimpse of it to try make out what it was.

I have a 5 speed in mine, I am from Auckland so I get all my work done at By'gone Autos.
