Rostyles or Dunlops
« on: July 19, 2014, 09:28:22 AM »
I  took this set of Dunlop's off one of my Fords just to see what clearance I had with a 5.5 rim on the Avenger as I plan to lower it. Now a few people have said the Dunlop's look better than the Rostyles? I am not so sure?

The Rostyles are only 5" rims so my plan was to get these banded to 6" and fit with 195 a 13 and then lower the rear about 2". Think I still prefer the Rostyles?

Yeah Rostyles are better...If you put Ford wheels on everyone will start telling you...'nice Escort'...lol
IMHO lowering the car 2" is too much (I think Tigers were lowered 1") as the rear tyres will foul with any load in the boot or back seat and the petrol tank will be more vulnerable to damage when reversing...just had that happen to a member here and their car is standard height!
At the front the sump is sensitive to height...can get scraped from heavy braking before judder bars!

I am glad you told me that as I was trying to picture and work out how far I could drop down with the bigger wheels and tyres? If the Tigers are dropped 1" then I guess I can live with that since that's the kinda stance I'm looking for. I only plan to roll the arches up as well to clear the bigger rims, rather than fit flared arches.

Front are 7,5x13, and rear is 8x13 ... tires size 195-40-13

Too much for my taste

Are they banded and what mods did you have to make to get them to fit?
