Very well done Pitcombe, looks like a great GLS.

'The new Avenger GLS' April 1973. Replaced the 4-door GT and had another two horse due to the holset fan. The GT came back as the 1300/1600TC 2-door later that year, yes there was a 1300GT, 69bhp.
The NZ Avenger Alpine looks like a GLS. Seems there was no GL in NZ rather two models were offered, a Super and a GLS/Alpine.
A 4-door GT was earlier than a GLS launched October 1970 which the critics really liked but they did not like the 'roman shield' hubcaps and the steeringwheel.
Chrysler I guess paid attention and replaced the 4-door GT with the GLS. As for the MK2 GLS they were more of a trim level with a 3.7 instead of 3.5 diff, rather than a high performance model, the hot Avengers being replaced with the Sunbeam at the time.
The 4-door GT 1970-1972

Seems as ever Chryslers marketing was a bit off the mark. They aimed the TC Avenger originally at the boy racer market, while in reality it appealed to the family man who wanted a faster car. So I suppose they replaced the 4-door GT with the more family man trimmed GLS.

I see what the guy was on about, the steeringwheel is a bit much! Mind you I can also see why one of these ebayed for £50 last year.

I wonder if the white Tiger look-a-like Cricket GT on that C&T clip had that same steeringwheel, maybe that sparked off the sneering?!
Ohh but Chrysler just dropped the ball something serious!
