It bolts in to the cross member like in the attached photos from the workshop manual.

They did make a quick rack for the rally Avengers but they are super super rare, as in made of unobtainium. I always wanted one for my old rally car but could never find one. I know a couple of NZ rally cars that have one but yeah, really rare.

The whole front half of the Talbot sunbeam is the same as an Avenger so I am sure they use the same rack.

You can get these solid mounts from the UK, not to sure of anywhere in new Zealand though. http://www.montgomery-motorsport.co.uk/steering/talbot-sunbeam-avenger-alloy-steering-rack-strengthener.html

Yeah, you should be able to. There are a couple of people on here with Sunbeams who could probably confirm 100% but as far as I am aware they are the same and compatible

I bought a quick rack about four years ago along with the solid mount. There are two types of racks used in the Avenger and the quick-rack will only fit one type but I no longer remember how to tell the difference.

That is probably for the Hillman/Chrysler. Because the Chrysler’s have a inch wider front track than the Hillmans so maybe they had to change the steering rack for the wider track

My manual does say there was 2 manufactures. Cam Gears and Burman.

It says they are interchangeable as a complete unit, but the individual components inside the rack are not compatible. This is in an early Hillman workshop manual so I will see if any of my manuals cover the later Chryslers

It is the Burman rack that you need, when they made the lower control arms longer in later models, they just made the tie rods half inch longer each side (same rack)
Quick-rack was not cheap with freight and then customs taxed me
