Nice pics from a Avenger/Sunbeam club day: including this absolute gem....

Seemingly custom built from an Avenger Estate body with doors from the 2 door hatch.

Ok: So somebody - other than the Argentinians with their VW 1500s (but I say those don't really count) - has successfully done a ute: one of us need to step up and do a panelvan.

A few more Shellsport photos to keep you going until I get time to catch up with a few good old boys and check out a few locations for cars.

Mike and Butch Johnson of Ashburton are rebuildings Noddy Murdoch's old Avenger and intend to run it at the OSCA reunion meetings and then later in classic events. Car is currently underging a rebuild in Mikes workshop. The Datsun 1200SSS is another of Noddy's cars with Lyn Hatton in the ex Cook, Ryan, Wills 160J in the background. Final photo is of Noddy and Allan Farr having a discussion about the damage to the RF guard of Noddy's Rex Findlay replica Datsun

i'm sure he has a thread around here somewhere but here is a pic from Daybreaker rally on the weekend

NZTiger

Rally was ok, had some overheating in first stage (longest at 43k) so drove keeping the revs down to get through. I'm almost certain the head-gasket is leaking. We carried some water and topped up the radiator at the start of each stage and it was fine. Other problem was a misunderstanding between me and service crew and we didn't put enough fuel in at the second service so with 4k to go in stage 6 I got some bad fuel serge so I had to back right off to get out of the stage...hence the utube clips with hazards flashing and being passed by the evo.

I was pleased to finally finish a rally as my last few have seen some missed stages...Started at 25 and finished at 25, the problems probably didn't effect the final position but I need to do more events and use notes to improve my speed....

Spotted in DVKE Wheels with attitude : did not spot him but he's keen to catch up with me apparently

Sweet, I haven't seen Dave's 2 door Avenger in years.

He is a top bloke. I meet him a few years back at Kumeu hot rod show and he came over had a look at my race car and we chatted about Avengers.

His 2 door Avenger is very tidy.

I like the colour scheme. I think I will keep my car looking stock/sleepy even if I do build the engine back up, but if I was going all out I would go for the most eye watering shade of purple I could find with the Tiger decals. Yellow or Red would be more faithful, but y'know...
