Don't put a rotary in your van.

You have as far as i know the only road going Avenger Van left in the entire world!

If I was you I would put the original factory headlights back in and keep it as is.

If you want to put a rotary in an Avenger then do what I did and buy a nothing special, run of the mill, dime a dozen 1300 super.

Na mate, i was thinking a 13b, carby with an Ida, I Konw it rare as, but not many people know of its rarity, Imagine it nicely lowered with a set of rims and a loiud a fuck rotary in it, I have to admit it would be pretty choice ,but yeah. Could Bygone Auto's do a rotary conversion?

rotary's are more trouble than thyre worth. unless your absolutely certain you can afford to get it roat'd, pay maintenence costs and get the engine built every few thou km's, go for it. But even if i could afford it, i wouldnt do it, id just go buy an rx3

A Rover V8 would be my favourite Avenger conversion...would sound awesome and suck less gas than a rota...haha

Yup, and Mal is an expert in Rover V8's. I know he is dying to put one in an Avenger.

I saw Dave's V8 Avenger down in Motueka and the Rover V8 does fit nicely.

I used to race against a couple of Rover V8 power Avengers. They were bloody quick.

Just throwing it out there: rotary conversions aren't original. Especially in small/medium sized RWD cars from the 60s, 70s or 80s. It's been done before, probably dozens of times. Hell: my hypothetical rotary project would be a Sunbeam Imp and even that isn't too far out there - you can easily buy a converter plate for a VW gearbox and away you go.

That being said, it is your car, do whatever makes you happy. I am very much of the "if you want a modern engine get a modern car" mindset, but the attraction of putting a solid japanese 4 cylinder in for reliability does make a lot of sense. As does the light body / big v8 thing.
